The new model comes with metal body, more storage, Android 7.0 Nougat, and a lot more
DUBAI – Moto G5 Plus’ price might be cheaper, but don’t judge this phone as it comes with cool features compared to other existing Android phones.
Moto G has always been (shamelessly) using plastic, but this year, its Moto G5 Plus is fully covered with metal and it feels a lot better and more durable as a result.
Moto G5 Plus improves last year’s Moto G4 Plus with a modern, metal body; more storage; Android Nougat; Google Assistant; new Motogesture; and a really good camera and 4K video.
This only goes to show that Moto is continuing to provide more great features than other inexpensive Android phones.
Comparing the G5 and G5 Plus, the latter was a bit cheaper but both of them have metal body design.
G5 has a smaller screen and weaker processor than the new one.
One of its newest and freshest features is the fingerprint sensor. It’s situated on the front below (just like Samsung’s S8). The cool thing about this is that Motorola has added a handful of shortcut gestures to make user’s life easier.
It’s a mini touch pad called One Button Nav. Tapping the fingerprint sensor will bring users into home. If one swipes it to the left, it shows recent apps. If one swipes to the right, it goes back. If one long presses it, the phone will lock and if taps and holds, Google Assistant pops up.
If one shakes it twice, the flashlight will be automatically turned on. While if the user double twist it, the camera will be launched.
The phone comes with a 5.20-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels. It is powered by 2Ghz octa-core Qualcom Snapdragon 625 processor.
Its internal storage can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSd.
Having using the phone for almost a week now, I found it to be responsive and very fast. Playing Candy Crush was smooth and surfing on Facebook and Instagram worked without a hiccup.
According to some references, its battery can last for 13 hours and 22 minutes.
But its built-in speaker sounds thin. It has no optical-image stabilizer for the camera which would help user in low light.
It is priced at AED 849.
